Team, Individual Silvers For WMC Fencers At County Tournament
Athletes prove strength in squad at sixth annual event.
LONG VALLEY, N.J. β In one of the biggest events of the season, West Morris Centralβs fencing teams and individual athletes showed their getting stronger by the year, with more success on the horizon.
The teams took part in the Morris County Fencing Championships this weekend where more than 200 varsity boys and girls competed. Senior captain Brooke Solsky and Junior Devon Howell both qualified for girls foil, with Solsky coming in second place for Central.
Despite a completely rebuilt boys foil squad, the trio of sophomore Christian Garcia, Freshman Nate Mange, and Senior Tiago Neto, inexperience was no obstacle. The team missed first place by a hair, and grabbed silver behind Mangeβs 7-1 performance on the day. Mange also landed in fourth place for the individual tournament.
