Theft, DWI Charge In Long Valley: Police Blotter

A recent arrest was made a township resident reported having their identity stolen, according to the police department.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In recent weeks, Long Valley has seen a DWI arrest and an investigation into an alleged identity theft in the township. The following information was compiled from Washington Township police department records.

On Dec. 31, Long Valley patrols conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 after observing numerous violations. During the stop, police were able to determine that a driver, a 21-year-old man from Newark, had numerous criminal and traffic warrants.

The man, whose identity was not released, was arrested and ultimately lodged in the county jail.

On Jan. 1, police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Flocktown Road after observing a vehicle being "operated erratically," police said. During the stop, it was determined that the driver, a 41-year-old Brooklyn, NY, was driving while intoxicated.

He was arrested and charged with DWI and other motor vehicle offenses, police said. The man was released pending an initial court appearance.

On Jan. 3, Washington Township Police Department detectives charged a Middle Valley, NY, man after a resident reported having their identity stolen and used to make credit card purchases.

Through surveillance and other investigative means, detectives were able to identify the defendant and charge them with theft and credit card theft, the police said.

According to the police, the defendant, whose identity was not revealed, has since been released pending their initial appearance in court.

On Jan. 3, local detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on Bartley Road. During the stop, police were able to learn that the driver, a 27-year-old Hamilton Township man, had an outstanding NCIC warrant for an assault that had occurred in Mercer County.

The suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility, police said.
