Veterans Remembered As Long Valley Plans Annual Wreaths Across America

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Local veterans who are eternally resting in cemeteries throughout the Long Valley area will be honored once again during the annual Wreaths Across America event.

According to event organizers, this year's Long Valley Remembers Wreaths Across America Memorial Service will be held on Dec. 17, 2022, at 12 p.m. at St Mark the Evangelist RC Church, which is located at 59 Spring Lane.

Following the ceremony, participants and volunteers are invited to lay wreaths on veterans' graves marked by American flags at the following cemeteries:

  • Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, 2 E Springtown Rd.: 141 graves
  • German Valley Rural Cemetery, 80 Coleman Rd.: 124 graves
  • Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 132 Califon Rd.: 80 graves

The American Veterans Association of Washington Township or “AVAWT” Post 1776 will be placing wreaths at Middle Valley Cemetery the Old Stone Church, Church Rd Cemeteries and the Jamie Smith Monument.

"Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting your family and friends to attend with you," officials said.

The organization is currently looking for sponsors to help them reach their final goal for the year, as they currently have 328 wreaths available for Washington Township's 370 veteran graves.
