WATCH: Long Valley's Michael Burton Scores First NFL Touchdown

Rookie fullback helps Lions to 35-27 win.

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – Christmas came early for Michael Burton this year.

The Detroit Lions fullback and Long Valley native recorded two catches against the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football, with one of those a six-yard touchdown grab, the first of his career.

Burton, the rookie out of Rutgers University, has made his presence felt all season, helping the Lions in pass coverage and leading the way for a committee of running backs.

But Monday night not only came with a 35-27 win in what has otherwise been a disappointing year for the team, but put Burton in the end zone for what is hopefully the first of many career touchdowns.

Burton was drafted by the Lions in the fifth round of the 2015 draft.
