WMC Fencers Heading To States After Taking District Medals
Central sending four teams, three individuals to state championship this month.

The West Morris Central girls and boys fencing teams have battled all season, coming up big in team performances as well as individual competitions. And now all that hard work is paying off.
On Sunday, the NJSIAA District 1 Championships was held at Hackettstown High School and included nine schools and more than 200 fencers competing for a shot at the State Championship Tournament to take place later this month.

The girls team qualified two individuals, Senior Brooke Solsky in girls foil, who came in third place Sunday; and Senior Katherine Santsevich, who came in second for girls epee. In addition to Solsky and Santsevich, both the girls epee and foil teams also qualified for the squad State Championships by finishing fourth place.
On the boys side, the foil squad came in fourth at the District 1 tournament, helping the group land a spot in the Squad Championships, along with the epee squad which came in second at the District event.

Freshman Nate Mange took silver Sunday. Juniors and co-captains Zach Mange and Lucas Huizenga will came in seventh and eighth, respectively, in Sundayβs competition..
