Back To School: Madison 2022-23 School Calendar

Parents in the Madison Public School District can look forward to the first day of school later this summer.

MADISON, NJ — Back-to-school planning has already begun in the Madison area, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in the Madison Public School District.

The first day of school for all grades in the district will be on Monday, Aug. 29.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its two-and-a-half-year mark.

The Madison Public School District has made no announcements regarding a change in mask policy for students in school or on school buses.

"The new cases are generally less severe than before but there is a high rate of cases right now. The NJDOH has moved from an individual case-based response strategy to a transmission mitigation strategy," said Superintendent Mark Schwarz.

Mask wearing will remain optional for all staff and students.

"We have a non-stigmatized environment. We encourage people to wear masks if they feel more comfortable doing so," said Schwarz.

Here is the list of dates to know for this school year:

  • First Day: Aug. 29
  • Labor Day: Sept. 5
  • Rosh Hashana: Sept. 26
  • Yom Kippur: Oct. 5
  • NJEA Convention: Nov. 10-11
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 24-25
  • Winter Recess: Dec. 26-Dec. 30
  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Jan. 16
  • Presidents' Day: Feb. 20
  • Spring Recess: March 20–24
  • Good Friday: April 7
  • Memorial Day: May 29
  • High School Graduation: June 14
  • Last Day: June 14
