Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy Visits Madison Borough Pizzeria

MADISON, NJ — Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, has tasted and reviewed countless pizzas. But when he visited Madison Borough for his "One Bite Pizza Reviews" series, one local shop's pie stood out.

Last month, Portnoy visited Nicky’s Firehouse Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, which is located at 15 Central Avenue in Madison.

Portnoy, a self-proclaimed pizza expert and celebrity, posts daily pizza reviews to his millions of social media followers, rating pies from 1 to 10. The videos, which are frequently shared on social media, usually begin with Portnoy's catchphrase, "One bite, everyone knows the rules."

Before taking his first bite, Portnoy praised the pizzeria's location and design. "This is a cool spot like you don't see too many pizza places that are actually crafted to the name like that, they are just all kind of cookie cutter, but not this one."

Nicky’s Firehouse Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria earned a 7.6 out of 10 from Portnoy. "Really good quality pizza."

That's some high praise. A 7.6 score ties Nicky’s Firehouse for 277th in One Bite's history, according to onebitepizzarankings.com. That's out of more than 1,000 reviews.
