Christmas Tree Lighting, Annual Parade Planned For Madison
The 43rd Annual Borough of Madison Christmas Committee Parade is returning to Madison, kicking off the holiday season.

MADISON, NJ — Although the weather may not make it appear so, the winter holiday season is quickly approaching. The annual Borough of Madison Christmas Committee Parade is one of the most popular ways to get into the Christmas spirit in Madison.
The Christmas Committee Parade, now in its 43rd year, draws a crowd of close to 15,000 spectators, making it one of the most popular holiday celebrations in the area.
This year, the parade will kick off on Nov. 25 at 5:30 p.m. on Waverly Place.

Every year, thousands of people line Main Street to watch the parade and tree lighting, which is organized by the all-volunteer Madison Christmas Committee.
According to Michael Pellessier, the Borough of Madison's Communication and Technology Coordinator, the parade will feature close to 70 floats and parade groups from Madison and surrounding municipalities.

The parade will also feature four bands, who will be performing live music, and a special guest appearance from Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus.
The lighting of the tree on Waverly Place happens immediately after the parade. The boroughs tree for this year, which is shown in the image above, is from Pomeroy Road and is 38 feet tall and 4,500 pounds.
