Drew University Baseball Players Earn All-State Honors

sThree Drew University baseball players concluded the 2015 season with New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association All-State team honors.

Senior shortstop Steve Kowalski and sophomore catcher Mike Miraglia earned All-State honors by being voted to the third team, while freshman reliever Joe Dahut earned All-Rookie team honors, according to Drew University Athletics.

Kowalski and Miraglia are the first Drew baseball players to earn All-State honors since Pat Rock in 2012. Dahut earned the Rangers’ fifth All-Rookie Team mention in the last three years, the university said.

During the 2015 season, Kowalski stole 22 bases and batted .375 in Landmark Conference games. On the season, Kowalski’s on-base percentage was .389 and he scored 26 runs and drove in 12 runs batted in, the university said.

Kowalski wrapped up his career at Drew with 172 hits and a .333 batting average in 147 games played.

Miraglia led the Rangers in hits during 2015 with 38 and posted a .378 batting average, ranking fourth in the conference, and a .462 on-base percentage, according to Drew Athletics. He slapped nine doubles and one hone run on the season, scoring 15 times and driving in 18 RBI.

In 12 appearances during the 2015 season, Dahut compiled a 3-0 record with a 4.50 earned run average and 1.36 WHIP. In 22 innings pitched, he allowed 22 hits and 8 walks, while striking out 13.

According to Drew University, the freshman reliever joins current teammates Anthony Feltre, Bobby Miskura and Jonathan Rodrigues as recipients of the All-Rookie honor over the past three seasons.
