Holiday Shopping Event Gives Christmas a French Twist

Area social and philanthropic organization's Le Bazar de Noel runs Nov. 15 and 16.

Twenty-eight local artisans and exhibitors will display their wares and sell classic gift and handmade items for men, women and children just in time for holiday shopping at the Thursday Morning Club’s Le Bazar de Noel.

The two-day Holiday Boutique runs from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov 15, and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exhibitors and vendors were handpicked by club co-chairs Connie Rostiac and Joan Cummings.

“The event will be the club’s largest fundraiser devoted to providing operating money for the activities of the Madison Community House this year,” said Ways and Means Chair Peggy Philp.

Le Bazar de Noel features a number of "departments" to target your shopping, for example:

  • Judy Pearlman and Kathy Balascio promise some real finds among the large selection of new gift items donated by club members. “Members’ Treasures” will feature china, silverware, crystal, jewelry and scarves, as well as seasonal décor.
  • For holiday entertaining, La Patisserie will offer cookies, pies and loaf breads made by club members while Le Bistro will serve lunch made by the club’s catering department from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. Doris Costello and Diana Krug are accepting two homemade items from each member while past presidents, Bernie Grohol and Carolyn Stiner are in charge of catering.

Tickets for a restaurant fundraising event will be available at the event. Many dining establishments in the area have donated gift certificates.

The Thursday Morning Club, a social and philanthropic organization founded in 1896, owns and operates the Madison Community House, Nursery School, and Before and After School Child Care program and provides a meeting place for the town’s various sports, recreational and civic groups.
