Concerns about the tropical storm have put a halt to the 47th annual event.

MADISON, NJ — Because of the impending arrival of Hurricane Ian, events throughout the area have been postponed or canceled, and the Borough of Madison has decided to postpone the beloved Bottle Hill Day festival.

According to borough officials, the new date for the festival is Oct. 15. The festival will continue to take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will still feature a variety of activities.

"We waited as long as possible, but Hurricane Ian is going to force the postponement of Bottle Hill Day after all," officials said.

This year marks the 47th anniversary of the premier street festival. Since its inception in 1974 by Mayor Elizabeth Baumgartner, this event has grown year after year.

Officials stated that the goal of the festival is to encourage economic growth and business development so that Madison's downtown can continue to thrive in the future.

Bottle Hill Day has evolved over the years into a family-oriented entertainment event with music featuring live music on four stages, amusements and the DDC Beer Garden.
