ICYMI: Wife of Jets Cornerback Was Pulled Over for Cell-Phone Use, Not 'Driving While Black', Madison Police Say
Madison Police have been accused of racial profiling by the wife of an NFL player claiming she was pulled over for "driving while black."

Madison Police have responded to the accusations of racial profiling by Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie’s wife, Terricka, who claims she was pulled over on Friday for “driving while black.”
Madison Police say Cromartie was pulled over for operating a motor vehicle while on a cell phone and having tinted windows.

“The Madison Police Department has received a complaint from Ms. Terricka Cromartie which was discovered by this agency through a media inquiry and social media. Due to the nature of the allegation, this agency proactively referred this case to the proper county authority as per the NJ Attorney General guidelines. Ms. Cromartie was stopped for operating a motor vehicle while on a cell phone and having tinted windows. The summonses will be adjudicated in the Madison Municipal Court in the near future. Ms. Cromartie’s allegations will be thoroughly and objectively investigated to their logical conclusion.”
It was around 11 a.m. when Cromartie claims she made multiple attempts to ask the officer why she had been pulled over - an occurrence she alleges happens three to four times a month, according to The NY Post.

After the incident, Cromartie took to social media and posted multiple videos, recorded during and after the traffic stop, onto Instagram. The videos have since been removed from her account, but can still be viewed on the NJ 101.5 website.
According to one of the videos, the following conversation happened after Cromartie questioned the officer as to why she had to roll her window down:
Officer: For safety reasons.
Cromartie: For safety, but I’m not authorized to do that, either.
Officer: You don’t have to, which I explained to you.
Cromartie: So now I have to tell you why I’m in Madison?
Officer: You don’t have to.
Cromartie: But why are you asking me why I’m in Madison?
Officer: Just curious.
Cromartie: Well, you don’t have to be curious about why I’m in Madison.
Officer: OK. All right, just hang tight, ma’am, for me. And I’ll be right back, all right?
In a second video, Cromartie goes on to say:
“So apparently you can’t be black, you can’t drive a nice car in Madison at 11 in the morning. I mean, who cares if you just came from the nail shop, you didn’t get a ticket, the police let you go and say have a nice day. Like that’s OK.”
Acting Lt. John Miscia, the Madison Police Department’s spokesman, says they are looking into the allegations, according to reports.
“We are looking into it,” Miscia, told nj.com several hours after the alleged incident.
“We have no comment on it right now,” Miscia later added. “I’m not at liberty to talk about it.”
