Jersey Cares Collecting Coats For Drive

Four public collection sites are located in Morris County.

Jersey Cares, a non-profit community-based organization, is in the middle of its 16th annual coat drive, and you can help.

Those looking to donate coats to NJ residents in need can do so between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15. This year, distribution containers will be located in 14 cities in 11 counties across the state, making participation in the Jersey Cares Coat Drive more accessible.

Four public collections sites are in Morris County, and drop-off and location information is listed below for those looking to make a donation.

Over the past 15 years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted and distributed more than 300,000 coats to New Jersey residents through the program. This year, the group will work with more than 300 corporations and organizations, aiming to collect and distribute 50,000 coats to more than 250 nonprofit agencies serving those in need.

The drive will culminate with a sort-off where hundreds of volunteers will sort and distribute thousands of coats to non-profits throughout the state at each distribution container on Dec. 17.

Jersey Cares was established in 1993 and works with local service agencies, corporations and civic-minded individuals as partners to link volunteers with service projects to improve and enhance communities. Projects range from serving meals to building greenhouses in urban schools.
