MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Morris County has released a new “Morris County 250th Anniversary Coloring & Activity Book” in partnership with the Morris County Tourism Bureau and the Morris County Board of County Commissioners. The book offers families, students, and residents a creative way to learn about the county’s Revolutionary War history.
Commissioner Christine Myers said Morris County holds a distinguished place in the nation’s founding. She added that it is a responsibility to ensure this history is preserved, understood, and appreciated by future generations. Myers stated that the coloring and activity book educates the youngest residents about the county’s Revolutionary heritage, allowing them to relate to history in a meaningful way.
Designed for learners of all ages, the publication brings Morris County’s history to life through interactive illustrations and activities. Each page highlights landmarks, people, and pivotal moments that shaped the region’s role in the American Revolution.

“As we prepare for the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution, our goal is to bring history to life in meaningful and creative ways," said Sarah Neibart, chair of Morris County’s 250th Celebrations. "This coloring and activity book allows children and families to explore Morris County’s Revolutionary past together -- page by page, story by story. We hope it sparks a sense of wonder, encourages visits to our historic sites, and strengthens our shared appreciation for the enduring contributions of this region.”
Many illustrations draw inspiration from the work of Morris County artist Lucille Hobbie (1915-2008). The cover features the official Morris County 250th Anniversary logo, which is a silhouette of Gen. George Washington on horseback.

Amanda Broschart, Director of the Morris County Heritage Commission, said the commission is thrilled to contribute to a project that connects everyone with Morris County’s past. She added that by blending history, art, and education, the book allows individuals to discover local historic sites.
The 15-page book includes scenes from Revolutionary-era locations. These include the Ford Mansion, Washington’s Headquarters, The Alliance statue, and historic structures like the Black Horse Inn. Each activity encourages curiosity and exploration of Morris County’s role in America’s fight for independence.
