Local Business Out 'In Force' To Support Madison 5K Run
The Madison 5K Run, Walk and Kids' Fun Run is in support of the Madison Education Foundation.

Local businesses in the Madison Borough community has shown up in the dozens to support the Madison Education Foundation’s 12th Annual Madison 5K Run, Walk and Kids’ Fun Run.
The event, which will be held on May 3 at Madison High School, 170 Ridgedale Ave., has attracted 53 sponsors, which have contributed nearly $34,000 to the 5K, the Madison Education Foundation (MEF) said.
“For the last several years our increasing event participation has meant that registration covers all operating costs,” MEF President Mary Schaenen said in a release. “This means that every sponsor dollar we receive supports our enrichment grants. We are very appreciative of our returning sponsors as well as the many new companies who have offered their support.”

Proceeds from the Madison 5K will benefit the Madison Education Foundation, which awards grants to teachers from kindergarten through 12th grade for “initiatives that energize the creative and academic lives of students, but are above and beyond the school budget,” the MEF said. Since it was founded in 2003, the MEF has awarded nearly $900,000 in grants to Madison public schools.
The 5K will send participants through the streets around Madison High School, starting and ending in front of the school on Ridgedale Avenue. Visit the 5K’s event page on the U.S.A. Track and Field website to view the entire route.
