Madison Affordable Housing Funds Set for 30 Years After Program Switch
Housing authority becomes first in state to make switch in RAD Program, report says.

For the first time in New Jersey, a town’s housing authority has switched from Title 9 of the U.S. Housing Act to Section 8’s voucher program.
That town is Madison, and that news means stability in funding for three decades.
Madison converted its public housing under the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Program, dailyrecord.com reported, which enables to the organization to borrow $2.2 million for long term capital improvements from the private sector.

The Section 8 designation allows for Madison’s affordable housing to be renewed which will keep units permanently affordable for low-income households.
Madison is home to 134 affordable apartments, which are 100-percent occupied, the report said.
