Madison Police Arrest Chatham Man for Drunk Driving, Bust Local Minor for Drugs

Police recently apprehended a drunk driver on Main Street, and a juvenile from Madison for drug charges.

Madison Police have arrested a 46-year-old Chatham man for driving drunk on Main Street. Just a day earlier, Madison Police also arrested a 17-year-old Madison resident on drug charges.

Madison Police Officer Ptl. Glab arrested Benton Brocklet, 46, of Chatham, shortly before 10 p.m. on Dec. 7. While on patrol, Glab allegedly observed Brocklet make an illegal left turn while leaving a business on Main Street.

Police stated that Brocklet then cut off a motorist traveling on Main Street, prompting Glab stopped Brocklet for this violation. Shortly thereafter, Glab determined that Brocklet was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Glab placed Brocklet under arrest and he was charged with D.W.I along with multiple motor vehicle offenses. Brocklet was released pending his appearance in the Madison Municipal Court.

Madison Police Officer Ptl. Vincent Dellavalle arrested a 17-year-old Madison juvenile for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 8:20 p.m. on Dec. 6, according to Madison Police Lt. Joseph Cirella.

Ptl. Dellavalle reported that he was checking on an occupied vehicle off Madison Ave. where he found evidence of drug use by the juvenile, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

The juvenile was released to a family member pending a follow-up from the Madison Juvenile Detective.
