Madison Police Suspend Parking, Respond to Car Accidents as Snow Hits the Borough
Madison Police have issued parking restrictions, responded to four car crashes, and towed three vehicles since the storm began.
Several inches of plowable snow have already piled up in Madison, as Nor’easter Cato blows into town. Due to the wintery weather, Madison Police announced that on-street parking permission is suspended this evening. The Police Department has also responded to several car accidents since the storm began.
Police noted that Officers have responded to four motor vehicle crashes and towed three cars as a result today.
“The snow is forecast to continue through the afternoon and be heavy at times,” Police stated. “It should taper off by mid-evening tonight. If you have to drive today, please operate your vehicle within the limits of the conditions of the roadway.”

Overnight parking permissions are also suspended for the evening, Madison Police report.
“No vehicles are to be left on any borough street,” Madison Police stated. “Please help our public works employees by keeping our streets clear of vehicles so the plows can effectively remove the snow.”

The Police Department added that residents should be wary of parking prohibitions that outlaw parking when a road is snow covered.
In light of the wintery weather, Governor Christie issued a state of emergency this afternoon, creating speed restrictions on the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.
Madison public schools were also closed today.
