Madison Schools' State Aid Increase Among Highest In Morris County

Department of Education releases data for 2016-17 budgets.

MADISON, N.J. - After spending the last few years receiving state aid that remained flat year-over-year, the Madison school district will see a decent uptick in the 2016-17 budget.

The New Jersey Department of Education released its annual state aid figures, and both local districts saw minor percentage increases that amounted to tens of thousands of dollars in budget money.

The Madison School District will see a 3-percent increase from last year’s state aid, or a total of $29,363. The district received $987,744 for the current year’s budget, and will receive a total of $1,017,107 for the 2016-17 school year.

The 3-percent total is third most in Morris County. No schools in the region remained flat or saw a decrease.

Only Morris Plains (3.6-percent) and the Morris School District (5.2-percent) received higher percentages than Madison in the county.

Of Madison’s $1,017,107, a total of $841,423 is being allocated to Special Education Aid, the state said.
