Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Drug Charges in Madison
An Essex County man was charged with drug possession after an alleged motor vehicle violation.

Madison Police report an Essex County man faces drug charges after a motor vehicle stop for an alleged motor vehicle violation in Madison Borough late last month.
At approximately 4:44 p.m. on April 24, Madison Police reportedly stopped a vehicle in the borough after observing an alleged motor vehicle violation on Main Street. During the course of explaining the the violation to the driver, identified as Hassan Yasin, 23, of Newark, the Madison Police officer detected the odor of marijuana from the vehicle, police said.
Subsequently, marijuana and MDMA (Ecstasy) were discovered inside the vehicle, according to Madison Police.

Yasin was charged with third-degree possession of MDMA and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in the Morris County Superior Court.
