West Morris Capital to Host “Basement Bash” & Art Expo

West Morris Capital, in collaboration with Levitate Creative Services and Core Creative Placemaking, will be hosting “Basement Bash,” a one-night popup event on Saturday, July 27. This 8,000 square-foot immersive art experience and expo will take place during Dover Art Week in the Richards Building and will provide a sneak peek into a planned basement art space that will be a key contributor to the redevelopment of the entire historic building around themes of creativity, community, education, and commerce.

“I think it is really exciting to think that this building, built during a time when much of Dover was busy forging iron into steel, can be reborn as a new kind of forge, a place where people and talent and creativity come together to forge new ideas, new art, new businesses – and more,” said Chris Murphy, president of West Morris Capital. “Our planned basement art space will be a key part of that rebirth, and I hope folks will join us for this exciting sneak peek to celebrate Dover Art Week.”

The event will feature an artist market, curated by Levitate Creative Services and AutoHD Creative Studios, to showcase the incredible talent of over 30 artists offering an array of art from paintings, pottery, and murals to graffiti-inspired pieces of art.

This event is open to the public, and attendees are welcome to view the progress of the community mural coordinated by Core Creative Placemaking and led by Morris County Artist Dan Fenelon sponsored by West Morris Capital. The multi-piece panel mural will be a collage paying homage to Dover’s rich cultural history. Built in collaboration with community members, the mural will explore the essence of Dover – past, present and future.

DJ 525 will be creating spinning hits throughout the evening and there will also be live music curated by Idea Cultural. Additionally, AutoHD Creative Studios will host a live podcast highlighting the amazing talent of Dover and guest artists.

The cash bar lounge, hosted by ONE11 Bar & Kitchen, will feature newly installed interactive art wall decorated by local artists during Dover Art Week. The bartenders of One11 have used their creative magic to make a one-of-a-kind Sangria to toast Dover Art Week and give a nod to Dover’s cultural roots. Following “Basement Bash,” all guests are invited to One11’s official after-party at 111 E Blackwell Street where the ArtBeats Group will be performing. The Scoop House will be on hand serving up delicious treats.

The Richards Building “Basement Bash” is hosted by the Town of Dover and in partnership with Morris Arts to promote arts and culture, as well as the downtown economy.
