Bergen Cop Put GPS In Ex-Wife's Vehicle, Stalked Her: Prosecutor
Hackensack Police Lt. Richard Levis, 47, used the GPS to track where his wife went, authorities said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Hackensack police lieutenant is accused of stalking his ex-wife by planting a GPS device in her vehicle and tracking her movements, authorities announced.
Richard Levis, 47, of Butler, was charged with burglary and stalking after an investigation by Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Oakland Police Department, acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said.
The prosecutor's office got information Dec. 30 that Levis may have secretly placed a GPS tracker in his estranged wife's vehicle without her permission, Calo said.

An investigation confirmed that Levis' wife found the tracker in her vehicle and that he used it to track where she went, Calo said.
Levis was issued a summons by the Bergen County Central Municipal Court on the charges. He is scheduled for a court appearance Jan. 23.
