Ex-Town Administrator Hired As New Mahwah Twp. Attorney

Brian Campion was the town's business administrator for more than 20 years before unexpectedly resigning in 2013.

MAHWAH, NJ — Former township administrator Brian Campion was hired as the newest township attorney Thursday.

The Township Council approved the hiring at its reorganization meeting. The township attorney serves at the pleasure of Mayor John Roth. The Township Council approved the hiring at its reorganization meting Thursday.

Campion is an attorney with Kelly, Kelly, and Marotta LLC in Maywood. He replaces Brian Chewcaskie.

Campion is familiar with the inner-workings of the township. He ran the day-to-day operations as administrator for more than 20 years. He resigned twice from the position: Once in July 2013, only to reverse the decision a month later, and again, permanently, in August 2016. (Report: Mahwah's Business Administrator Resigns)

Roth said Campion was hired, "because of his skills as an attorney, knowledge of municipal law, and in-depth knowledge of Mahwah Township," Roth said. "I have had a long and favorable working relationship with Mr. Campion and am very comfortable having him as the township attorney."
