MAHWAH, NJ — Polling sites are closed, and the unofficial tallies of votes in New Jersey's 2022 general election are being counted.

Initial results rolled in just after 8 p.m. from the Bergen County Clerk's Office. Patch will continue to bring you election results live as they come in.

Mahwah Board of Education:

Four candidates — three incumbents and one newcomer — are vying for three open seats on the Board of Education.

Here are the results as of 1:03 p.m., Nov 9...

Prema Moorthy — 4,240 (24.83%)

Brett Coplin — 4,183 (24.49%)

John Dinice — 4,327 (25.34%)

Christopher Hughes — 4,316 (25.27%)

Coplin, in a Facebook post Wednesday morning, said, "It's been fun Mahwah. Thanks for the privilege of serving this community on the BOE for the last four years. It's been an absolute honor."

He added, "Congratulations to John, Prema and Chris."

Moorthy thanked the community for its support and allowing her to serve another term. She said, on Facebook, that she looks forward to continuing to work with Dinice, and welcomed Hughes.

"Hopefully we can all work together across the aisle for the best interests of the kids of Mahwah," Moorthy said.

Mahwah Township Council (* nonpartisan):

Six candidates — four incumbents, one newcomer and a former councilman — are vying for four open seats on the Township Council.

Janet Ariemma — 5,127 (23.31%)

William "Duke" Golz — 2,226 (10.12%)

George W. Ervin — 3,091 (14.05%)

Bergen County Board of County Commissioners:

Six candidates — three Democratic incumbents and three Republican challengers — are vying for three open seats on the Board of Commissioners.

Mary Amoroso, Democratic incumbent — 143,546 (17.93%)

Rep. Josh Gottheimer is projected to win against opponent Frank Pallotta, according to the Associated Press.
