MAHWAH, NJ - A local Italian restaurant opened its doors, fired up the ovens and delivered fresh, hot pizzas to firefighters battling a five-alarm blaze that broke out in Mahwah on Christmas Day.

Novino Ristorante was scheduled to be closed for the holiday, but when the fire broke out at Arzee Building Supply Center and prompted the response of firefighters from 20 different departments, it decided to come to the aid of the first responders.

"For the owners and employees at Arzee, it's not a good Christmas,"Novino's Chef/Owner George Jamieson wrote on Facebook."For the firefighters from Mahwah and many surrounding towns that are helping here this is not what they had hoped for on Christmas. Novino has the ovens on and will bring pizzas for the much valued firefighters!"
