Mahwah Schools Educate 2,700 Students. Will They Gain Or Lose State Aid?
New Jersey's Department of Education released state aid figures for almost 600 school districts for 2025-2026. Where does Mahwah stand?

MAHWAH, NJ — New Jersey's Department of Education released its funding figures for the next school year on Thursday, sending $12.1 billion to the state's nearly 600 districts.
The Mahwah public schools will receive $5.03 million for next year, including $3.44 million in special education aid, $1.2 million in transportation aid, and $380,000 in security aid. That's up 6 percent from the current year's $4.74 million.
The district educates an estimated 2,700 students.

The school board will use the aid to hammer out the next school budget. Last May, a proposed $80.4 million budget was presented.
175 districts will grapple with cuts to funding next year, some of whom had increases in previous years. 392 districts will receive increased funding and seven will get the same funding.

Newark Public Schools are getting a $75 million increase in aid. The Cape May City Schools will see the largest percentage cut, 27.29 percent.
