Man In Mahwah Arrested For Sexual Assault Of A Child: Prosecutor

The Bergen County Prosecutor alleges the man had sexual relations with a young girl who had been reported missing.

MAHWAH, NJ — Ralph Renard, 21, was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, the Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced in a statement Friday.

Renard was arrested by Mahwah police. In the statement, Musella said police were in search of a missing girl under the age of 16 when they found her in Renard's car.

Police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit said the man was found to have had a sexual relationship with the girl.

Renard was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault, a 2nd degree crime, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a 3rd degree crime.

Renard was taken to Bergen County Jail pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

According to the statement, Renard is a Jamaica, New York, resident who works as an airplane safety workers.
