School Facilities Improved Over Mahwah Summer Break
At the previous Board of Education meeting, the school board secretary said several projects saw progress over the summer.
MAHWAH, NJ — An update was provided on site improvements and grounds maintenance for Mahwah schools, three of which are undergoing storefront and window replacement, during the township Board of Education meeting last week.
Progress was made over the summer on several projects, according to school board Secretary Kyle Bleeker. Roofing work was done at Mahwah High School; and HVAC equipment and control systems were installed at Joyce Kilmer School.
Betsy Ross, George Washington and Ramapo Ridge Middle Schools are those seeing storefront and windows get replaced, and remaining work on those projects will extend into the school year, Bleeker said. However, the work can be performed after school hours, he said, at no interruption to classroom instruction.

Board member Brett Coplin asked Bleeker when he expected the project at George Washington to be completed, because, he said, when he drives by the school, the plywood on the side of the building is "hard to miss."
Bleeker said the project there is 80% completed, and that the plywood will likely need to stay on for the first couple of months into the school year. He added that the contractor, due to supply chain problems, could not get windows, though they are expected to arrive in the fall.

"The vendor is committed to installing them as soon as possible," he said.
Bleeker also thanked the Mahwah Schools Foundation for a recent grant to help improve Ramapo Ridge with an outdoor patio area behind the school.
