Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark is pleased to present the newest expansion to New Jersey’s first Catholic Natural/Green Burial Section at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. It features a statue of St. Francis of Assisi, known for his love of nature, and a wolf, which legends say he tamed to protect a village. The wildflowers and naturally occurring flora create a peaceful and serene setting for our Catholic families who prefer an eco-friendly memorial or for those who may want an alternative to cremation. Also, a beautiful new rustic Amish Gazebo, suitable for committal services, overlooks the entire new section.

Discover the beauty, peace, and dignity of Catholic burial traditions — and protect your family’s legacy with confidence.
