Teen Arrested In New York Steals Vehicle, Flees Police In Mahwah: Cops
A teenager was re-arrested in New York after he was seen driving a second stolen vehicle and fleeing police in Mahwah, authorities said.
MAHWAH, NJ — A teenager who had recently been arrested in New York in connection with a stolen vehicle was seen in Mahwah driving another stolen vehicle and fled police in pursuit of him back into New York, authorities said.
The 19-year-old was arrested last week at his Suffern home on charges of grand larceny in the third degree, and criminal possession of stolen property in the third and fifth degree. He was processed and released a few days later, Suffern Police Lt. Jim Giannetino said.
Approximately an hour after his release, he was spotted by Mahwah police driving a vehicle stolen out of Ramapo, and fled from officers back into New York, Giannetino said.

The stolen vehicle then became disabled in Suffern, at which time police were able to re-arrest the suspect, the Ramapo Police Department said.
He was later turned over to Ramapo police and charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He also had two newly issued warrants out of New Jersey for his involvement in the pursuit from Mahwah into Suffern.

He was arraigned in the Airmont Justice Court as a fugitive from justice and remanded to the Rockland County Jail, police said.
