Wanaque Man Drove 165 MPH on Rt. 17: NY State Police
The incident occurred on Route 17 in New York, troopers said.
WANAQUE, NJ - A 23-year-old Wanaque man faces charges after police say he was caught driving 145 miles per hour on State Route 17 in New York.
Around 10:15 a.m., near Exit 122, troopers clocked a 2009 Dodge Challenger traveling above the posted speed limit of 65 miles per hour, state police said.
As the driver passed the trooper's car in the highway's u-turn area, he accelerated and began passing other vehicles "in a reckless manner," police said.

After he got off the highway, state troopers pulled him over and he was charged with speeding 145 in a 65 mile per hour zone, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
Vanleuvan was issued a March 13 court date in Wallkill, police said.
