$12,000 Rolex Watch Stolen From Customer's Purse In Manalapan

A Rolex watch was stolen from a woman's purse as she shopped in a local Manalapan business, police say in weekly crime report.

MANALAPAN,NJ — A pickpocket stole a Rolex watch right out of the purse of a shopper at a local business, Manalapan police report.

Last Tuesday, May 16, a Rahway resident, 39, told police that while shopping at a Franklin Lane business, a Rolex worth $12,000 was stolen from her purse.

Police are investigating this and other incidents cited in a weekly crime report by Deputy Police Chief Leonard Maltese:

  • An Englishtown resident, 44, told police that someone falsified bank statements and removed $20,000 from a business account.
  • A Manalapan resident, 76, told police of being defrauded of $900 by someone posing as a bank representative on the telephone.
  • A Manalapan resident, 63, told police that on May 15 someone entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a Lowell Road residence. No monetary loss was reported.
  • A Manalapan resident, 61, told police that someone smashed the rear window of a vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot on Meadow Green Circle sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, and 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12. The cost of the damage is reported to be approximately $500.
