Burglaries Reported In Several Manalapan Neighborhoods
Five burglaries or attempted burglaries of homes were reported on one day in Manalapan, police report.
MANALAPAN, NJ — A series of burglaries or attempted burglaries all took place on Saturday, Dec. 9, police report:
- Dec. 9, 8:48 p.m.: A resident, 78, reported that a person entered a Sherwood Road residence and removed items of an unknown value. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko took the report.
- Dec. 9, 7:45 p.m.: A resident, 75, reported that a person entered a Winfield Drive residence and removed items of an unknown value. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko took the report.
- Dec. 9, 6:37 p.m.: A resident, 65, reported that a person attempted burglarize a Caitlin Way residence but no entry was made. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko took the report.
- Dec. 9, 4:56 a.m.: A resident, 54, reported that two unknown persons attempted to burglarize a Tall Woods Drive residence. Patrolman Jason Vigneault took the report.
- Dec. 9, 4:52 a.m.: A resident, 37, reported that two unknown persons entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked at a Sweetman’s Lane residence and removed miscellaneous items of unknown value. The two then attempted to burglarize the residence, but fled the scene prior to gaining entry. Patrolman Brian Schank took the report.
Other incidents last week were reported by police, including thefts:
- Dec. 10: A resident, 67, reported that an unknown person stole a purse containing $3,000 while at the Manalapan Diner, 48 Route 9 in Manalapan. Patrolman Connor Kelly took the report.
- Dec. 11: A resident, 49, reported that a man operating a U-Haul van stole packages valued at $900 from the front steps of a Dortmunder Drive residence. Patrolman Joseph Santomarco handled the report.
- Dec. 12: Employees of the Delta Gas Station, 70 Freehold Road in Manalapan, reported that a person unlawfully entered the business during the overnight hours and removed items of unknown value. Patrolman Dennis O’Brien took the report.

- Dec. 6: A resident, 66, reported that a person or persons posing as members of law enforcement defrauded the victim in the amount of $2,400 by the internet. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis took the report.
- Dec. 7: A resident, 73, reported two individuals withdrew $1,359.00 from a bank account. Patrolman Bitsko handled the report.
- Dec. 11: A resident, 63, reported a person made $3,485 in fraudulent charges to the victim’s bank account. Patrolman Christopher Capuzzo handled the report.
Police also arrested an East Windsor man, 22, on Dec. 10 for driving while intoxicated after being involved in a motor vehicle crash on Route 9 in Manalapan. The man was placed under arrest and transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and released after being issued summonses. Patrolman Marshall Bitsko was the arresting officer.
All matters are being investigated by the police department.
