Car, Home Burglary Attempts Reported To Manalapan Police

In a weekly report of crime in the township, Manalapan police said in one instance $1,200 in cash was stolen from a car.

MANALAPAN, NJ —A Kipling Way resident, 39, had $1,200 stolen from an unlocked car, police report.

The resident told police that between 8 p.m. Oct. 29 and 6 a.m. Oct. 30 someone entered the unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the home.

The person removed approximately $1,200 in currency and a license plate from the vehicle.

  • Oct. 31: A Manalapan resident, 47, reported that an unknown person unsuccessfully tried to enter a Champions Way residence. Patrolman Connor Kelly took the report.
  • Oct. 30: A Manalapan resident, 36, reported that an unknown person entered an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a Manalapan Woods Drive residence. Christopher Schou handled the report.
  • Oct. 30: A Manalapan resident, 67, reported that an unknown person tried to enter a Lauren Court residence through the locked garage. Patrolman Abdoulaye Diagne handled the report.
  • Oct. 30: A Manalapan resident, 44, reported that two unknown people unsuccessfully tried to enter a Lauren Court residence at approximately 6 a.m. Patrolman Matthew Schwartz handled the report.
  • Oct. 26: A Manalapan resident, 44, reported that an unknown person tried unsuccessfully to enter a locked Bloomfield Road residence, but fled the scene when the residential alarm sounded. Patrolman Peter Pagano handled the report.

All matters are being investigated.

There were also thefts reported in the township:

  • Oct. 28: Employees of the Valero Gas Station, located at 391 Route 9 in Manalapan, reported that an unknown person stole $300 worth of gas from the business. Patrolman Abdoulaye Diagne handled the report.
  • Oct. 27: A Spotswood resident, 47, reported that a 47-year-old East Brunswick resident stole approximately $5,000 worth of merchandise from a business owned by the victim. No complaints were signed as a result of this incident. Patrolman Christopher Capuzzo handled the report.

There were instances of fraud reported in the township also:

  • Oct. 27: A Manalapan resident, 32, told police that someone used the victim’s credit card and made fraudulent transactions in the amount of $242.86 between Aug. 24, 2023 and Aug. 28, 2023. Patrolman Anthony Cascella handled the report.
  • Oct. 26: A Manalapan resident, 68, told police that an unknown person used their personal information without authorization to open a bank account. Patrolman Joseph DeFilippis handled the report.

Both incidents are pending investigation.

  • Oct. 24: Shoplifting at Best Buy, 15 Route 9. Employees reported that someone unknown shoplifted $2,771.71 worth of merchandise from the store. Patrolman Aaron Abeles handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
