Carlee Wines Charity Walk to Close Roads Sunday

Tennent Road, Craig Road, Church Lane will be closed on Sunday morning.

The Carlee Wines 5 Mile Run/Walk is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at Manalapan High School. The walk honors Manalapan High School graduate Carlee Wines who was killed in 2007 of a hit and run accident at the University of Connecticut campus.

Wines began running as Peer Leader Challenge as a student at Manalapan High School. Her first run was the Spring Lake 5. After that, she became an avid runner. All funds made at the Carlee Wines 5 Mile Run/Walk will go towards the Carlee Wines Scholarship Foundation.

The run is slated to begin at the high school at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday and will last between three and four hours. The Manalapan Police Department will be closing Route 522 in both directions from Tennent Road east to Wemrock Road in Freehold. Tennent Road north to Craig Road will also be closed, as well as Church Lane in both directions. Detour signs will be erected by police.
