Catalytic Converter Theft, Car Burglaries Reported in Manalapan

One person reported the loss of $6,100 in items from a car parked at a Route 9 shopping center in Manalapan.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A catalytic converter, valued at approximately $1,000, was stolen from a vehicle parked on the property of a Route 9 business, police reported Monday.

The theft took place sometime between April 3 and April 17, police said, and was reported to police by employees of the business on April 17.

Patrolman Edward Burns handled the report, which is pending further investigation.

Other incidents involving cars were also noted by Deputy Chief Leonard Maltese in the weekly report of police activity:

  • On April 12, an Old Bridge resident, 56, told police that someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed items valued at approximately $6,100 while it was parked at the Towne Pointe Shopping Center, 357 Route 9 in Manalapan. Patrolman Sean McCarthy handled the report, which is pending further investigation.
  • On April 14, a Monroe resident, 48, reported that someone who fled the scene in dark-colored sport utility vehicle gained access to an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the Yorktown Center Parking lot, Gordon’s Corner Road. No monetary loss was reported as a result of this incident. Patrolman Burns handled this report also, which is pending further investigation.
