Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad To End Operations
The squad cited an inability to maintain effective 24/7 service due to the volume of calls as one reason for the shutdown.
MANALAPAN, NJ — The Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad is officially ending operations, First Aid Squad Treasurer Jeff Kravitz announced on Wednesday.
The squad, which primarily serves Englishtown and Manalapan, has been providing aid to the community for more than 82 years.
On Oct. 1, the squad will officially end operations, Kravitz said.

“It is with profound sadness that the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad announces that we will be ceasing operations,” Kravitz said.
This announcement comes following Manalapan Township’s request for an emergency medical health services provider in May 2o23.

According to Kravitz, the Township awarded a services contract to Atlantic Mobile Health Services, who then began serving Manalapan in Aug. 2023.
Though Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad continued to service Englishtown and provide mutual aid to Manalapan and surrounding towns following Atlantic's appointment, Kravitz said the resulting call volume was not sufficient to maintain an effective 24/7 service.
After a year of investigating alternate options, Kravitz said the squad decided to end operations.
“We would like to thank the volunteers (and in recent years the career staff) that provided excellent pre-hospital care for our Township and Borough for these decades,” Kravitz said. “And we would especially like to thank the residents of Manalapan and Englishtown for all their support throughout our 82 years of service. Wishing you good health in the future!”
The Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad is located at 7 Sanford St., Manalapan.
