Former WMUA Collection Superintendent Dies at 54

Russell Corbett spent most of his life in Manalapan and worked for the Western Monmouth Utilities Authority for 38 years.

Russell J. Corbett, 54, of South River, passed away on July 8, 2013, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he grew up and lived in Manalapan for most of his life before moving to South River three years ago. He was the outside collection superintendent for Western Monmouth Utility Authority, Manalapan for 38 years before retiring. Russell was an avid fisherman and loved to watch NASCAR racing.

Corbett was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Dolores Corbett, and his brother, Donald Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Diane; his two sons, Devern and Joseph Corbett, both of Freehold; his sister, Lisa German of Jackson; and future daughters-in-law, Valerie Santangelo and Deanna Balaes.

Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.
