Manalapan Police reported three incidents of fraud from Oct. 16 through Oct. 22.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of fraud, theft and extortion from Oct. 16 through Oct. 22.

Oct. 16
A 53-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone defrauded them of $100,000.

Oct. 18
A 63-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to extort $1,950 from them online.

A 75-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone used their personal information to try and fraudulently obtain an insurance payment.

An 83-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone tried to defraud them for $15,849 with a fraudulent cashier’s check.

A 40-year-old Freehold resident reported receiving harassing text messages from someone they did not know.

Oct. 19
A 41-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone stole a Chromebook worth $500 from the Manalapan Township Recreational Center.

A 42-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they were being harassed via social media.

Oct. 21
A 55-year-old Manalapan resident reported that someone took $765 from a Justin Way home.

Oct. 22
An investigation by the Manalapan Township Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit resulted in the arrest of John Rockford III, 50, of Manalapan.

Rockford was charged with various narcotic-related offenses, including possession of controlled dangerous substances and distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

Rockford was brought ot Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a court appearance.
