Gas Station Loses $50 Helping Customer With Bad Credit
When a customer's credit card was declined, gas station employees said the person could come back the next day to pay. Customer never did.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A gas station, trying to be helpful to a customer whose credit card was declined, is out more than $50 in an incident reported to township police.
Employees of the Enrite Gasoline Station, 140 Route 33 in Manalapan, told police that on April 15 someone purchased gasoline for their car for $51.11. but the credit card was declined.
The person told the employees that they would return the following day to pay for the gas, but never returned with the payment. The employees waited a while for the money to be returned, but it never came, so they reported the incident to police April 30.

In another incident that took place on the road, a case of road rage was reported recently to Manalapan police.
A 44-year-old Howell resident told police he was assaulted during a road rage incident in the township April 28 by a 50-year-old Freehold Township resident, resulting in minor injuries.

The incident is pending the signing of complaints.
The police department reported other incidents of theft, fraud and harassment in a weekly report from Deputy Chief Leonard Maltese.
Fraud
- On April 28, a Manalapan resident, 34, told police someone unknown gained access to their bank account and withdrew $18,715.
- A Manalapan resident, 40, told police May 3 that an unknown person made fraudulent charges on a State of New Jersey issued food stamp card in Maryland on May 1 in the amount of $968.
- A Manalapan resident 63, told police May 1 that someone made fraudulent credit card purchases in the amount of $839.01.
- A case of blackmail was reported to police on April 28. A 64-year-old Manalapan resident said someone unknown to them attempted to blackmail them to obtain money. No monetary loss was reported as a result of the incident.
Theft
- A Manalapan resident, 19, reported that an unknown person stole a Nintendo Switch, valued at approximately $340, from a Shinnecock Road residence sometime between March 5 and May 2.
- A Jackson resident, 34, reported that someone had stolen their cell phone and accessed their banking account information while at a Smithburg Road residence.
Harassment
- A Manalapan resident, 46, told police April 26 of being harassed by someone after the sale of a property.
- Two cases of social media harassment were also reported: On April 26, an 18-year-old Manalapan resident told police of the harassment on social media. Also on April 26, a 24-year-old Manalapan resident told police about harassment on social media by someone unknown.
All incidents are under investigation.
