Incident at Freehold Township High School Prompts Calls to Local Health Officials
An incident that occurred early Wednesday morning at Freehold Township High School caused the school to contact local health officials.

Local health officials were contacted this morning after a student discharged a brief blast of pepper spray outside the cafeteria of Freehold Township High School.
According to Freehold Regional High School District spokeswoman Rebecca Morton, the incident occurred at approximately 8:20 this morning.
No students or staff were directly struck by the spray. However, the noxious odor prompted a phone call to local health officials.

Any students or staff that were in the area have received appropriate medical treatment, Morton said. The school also put a temporary shelter in place to ensure the safety of all students and faculty.
The affected area was cleared and air quality samples were taken. There are no further health concerns. As a result, normal classes resumed at approximately 10:30 a.m., Morton said.
