Manalapan 2021 Election: Who's Running, All The Ways To Vote

The general election is on Nov. 2. Check out our voter guide before you cast your ballot.

MANALAPAN, NJ — The general election is only three weeks away and Manalapan residents will be able to cast their votes on several state and local races.

This year voters will have more ways and more days to vote in person than ever, according to Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon. Earlier this year, a new state law was passed mandating the option of in-person early voting in New Jersey.

What And Who Are On The Ballot?

  • Governor's race: Gov. Murphy is running for reelection this year against Republican Jack Ciattarelli, Madelyn Hoffman (Green Party), Gregg Mele (Libertarian) and Joanne Kuniansky (Socialist Workers Party).
  • State Senate: In district 12, Republican incumbent Samuel Thompson will be challenged by Democrat Joseph Altomonte for State Senate.
  • General Assembly: Republicans Robert Clifton and Ronald Dancer (both incumbents) are running against democrats Raya Arbiol and Michael Palazzolla for the two General Assembly seats.
  • Township Committee: There is one seat open this year. Incumbent Barry Jacobson, a Republican, will be challenged by democrat Bashir Mohammad.
  • School Board: Five candidates are seeking two available Manalapan seats on the board: Stacey Einziger, David Ferber, Christy Minetell, Joanne A. Schechter (Incumbent) and Brian Graime (Incumbent). For the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education representing Manalapan, Adam S. Weiss and Jamie Bruno are competing for one seat.
  • Local Referendum: Voters will be asked to approve a $14.46 million bond for roofing and pavement improvements in schools within the Freehold Regional High School District. The Board of Education launched a website to explain what's at stake.
  • State Constitutional Questions: Voters will be asked to approve a constitutional amendment to permit wagering on all college sport or athletic activities and a constitutional amendment to allow certain organizations authorized to conduct games of chance to use proceeds from those games to support the organization.
  • Board of County Commissioners: Incumbent Republican Susan Kiley and Democrat Michael Beson are running for an open seat.

Where and how to vote:

  • In-person early voting: In-person early voting will be available in 10 polling locations in Monmouth County between Oct. 23 and 31. See full list of locations here. Hours will be Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters who registered for vote-by-mail will not be able to cast their ballots in person. To check your voter registration status go to Vote.NJ.Gov and click on the "Am I Registered?" tab.
  • In-person on election day: Polls will be open on Nov. 2 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. See where you can cast your vote here.
  • Mail-in ballot: To vote by mail, voters must first complete a vote by mail ballot application, which can be found here or by visiting the office of the county clerk or your hometown's municipal clerk. Applications must be received seven days before the election, on Oct. 26. Voters can mail their ballots following the instructions on it or by dropping them off. A vote-by-mail drop box has been set up at the Manalapan Township Municipal Building, located at 120 County Road 522, and a total of 35 drop boxes are available in Monmouth county. All locations are open 24 hours a day and until 8 p.m. on election day unless noted.
