Manalapan High School Graduation 'Braves' the Heat

The Braves class of 2013 graduated on Tuesday night.

The Manalapan High School class of 2013 sat on the Braves’ football field last night while they awaited to hear their name called to receive their high school diploma. A sea of white Commencement programs were moving up and down in the stands as proud family and friends used them as make-shift fans in an effort to beat the heat.

The students sat through the sultry weather as they listened to heartening speeches from Salutatorian Justin Gottlieb, Valedictorian Christina Floristean, and class presidents’ Jacqueline Olivia Cook and Carly Zucker who referenced their four years at high school as different parts of a school paper.

Assistant Principal Lavetta Ross addressed the class and reminded them of all they went through together in their young lives and how it has prepared them for what is to come.

Poet Laureate Dana Marie DeCarlo read her inspirational poem to set the emotional mood of the evening. The Manalapan High School Chorus also tugged at heartstrings when they sang “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac.

Students were reminded to go forth and make their mark on the world and that, even though yesterday was the last time the class would be assemble together as a whole, graduation is not goodbye, but a “see you later”.
