Manalapan Home Catches Fire After Vehicle Crashes Into It: Police

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. on Tuesday when police said a vehicle left the road and crashed into a house on Craig Road.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A local resident was safely removed from their home Tuesday morning after a car crashed into it and the house caught fire, Manalapan Police said.

The crash occurred at 5:02 a.m. on Craig Road in the area of Symmes Drive, police said.

A vehicle had left the road and crashed into a home, which then caused the home to catch on fire, according to police.

Patrol units responded to the incident and found that the vehicle's driver was taken out of the vehicle by passing motorists. The driver was then treated by Atlantic EMS and brought to an area hospital.

The lone occupant of the home was safely removed following the crash, police said. A dog also escaped the home, according to a report from News 12 NJ.

The Gordons Corner Fire Company and neighboring fire departments responded to extinguish the fire, police said.

The incident is being investigated by Detective Matthew Meyler of the Manalapan Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Fire Marshall's Office.
