Merline A. Douglas, 83, of Manalapan, N.J., died on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at The Manor in Freehold, N.J. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Merline lived in New York City before moving to the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan in 1981. She worked as a claims examiner for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for many years before retiring.
Douglas was predeceased by her husband, Sydney Percival, and is survived by her son, Kevin, formerly of Lake George, N.Y.; her daughter, Suzanne of Manalapan, and siblings, Enola, Bernham and Lloyd Simms.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
