Manalapan Obituary: Sophie 'Dottie' Mattern

Sophie Mattern (nee Bazydlo), 86, passed away July 10, 2013, at her home in Manalapan, N.J. 

Dottie was born in Newark, N.J., where she resided for most of her life in the Ironbound. She moved to Harrison, N.J., five years ago and then moved to Manalapan, where she resided for the past seven months.

Dottie worked for Joe's Luncheonette in Newark for 13 years and for the First National Bank in Elizabeth, N.J., as a clerk for 15 years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Casimir's Church, Newark, and a member of the Senior Independence Friday Club. Dottie was the wife of the late Ernest Mattern; devoted mother of Barbara Labudzinski and her husband, Frederick, and Barry Mattern and his wife, Ellen, and dear grandmother of Steven, Barry and Shannon. She was predeceased by her siblings, Stella, Ben, Lucy, Laura and Stanley.

Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 13, at 9 a.m. at St Casimir's Church, Newark, N.J. Thence to Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, N.J.
