Manalapan Police: 4 Thefts from Parked Vehicles, 1 Attempt

The Manalapan Police Department is reporting several motor vehicle break-ins and one attempt at the end of January and early February.

An car was broken into on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and contents valued at $140 were stolen from the victim, a 47-year-old Manalapan man, police said. The car was parked on Thompson Grove Road at the time of the burglary. An investigation revealed another victim, according to police. A woman told police that her carry bag was removed from her car around the same time when it was parked on Old Cider Mill road. The bag contained items valued at approximately $50. Both victims told police that their car was unlocked at the times of the theft.

Another unlocked car was entered while it was parked in the driveway of a Peach Tree Lane residence on Thursday, Jan. 31 and approximately $45 in cash was taken, police said. The theft happened at some point between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Also on Jan. 31, a Valley Road resident reported to police that a person, or multiple persons, attempted to gain access to his vehicle at around 4:40 p.m. The victim, a 43-year-old Manalapan man, told police that there were pry marks in the paint on the interior portion of the door frame of his car.

A 41-year-old Manalapan man captured images of a man leaving driveway of his home on a video surveillance camera after his unlocked car had been broken into. The car was illegally entered at 2:18 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, the police report noted. A set of golf clubs and several packs of cigarettes were taken from the car.
