Stolen Information Used To Steal $22,000 From Manalapan Resident

Manalapan police said a 66-year-old resident had personal information stolen by someone who then charged $22,000 in goods.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A township resident reported to police that they lost $22,000 through credit card fraud.

The resident, 66, said someone not known to them opened credit cards using personal information. The resident made the report on June 20.

The person made $22,000 in fraudulent transactions, police said. The matter is under investigation.

In another incidence of fraud in the township, as reported from Deputy Police Chief Leonard Maltese, a Freehold resident, 56, reported that someone fraudulently opened a Verizon Wireless account using the victim’s business information.

The person purchased six phones valued at approximately $794.94, as reported to police on June 15.
