Manalapan Township Police Department 2012 Highlights

During 2012, the Manalapan Township Police Department:

• received or initiated 9 internal affairs complaints. Of those 9, one of them was sustained and resulted in disciplinary action. Two of the nine cases are still open and pending investigation.
• had no police involved motor vehicle pursuits
• had 12 incidents during which officers had to use physical or mechanical force
• made 435 arrests. 412 of the arrests were adults and 23 were juveniles
• issued 6404 motor vehicle summonses
• made 8644 motor vehicle stops
• had 8 motor vehicle collisions involving patrol cars
• handled 28,054 calls for police service, up from 24,823 in 2011
• handled 1192 motor vehicle collisions which resulted in 204 injuries and one fatality
• received 213 cases which required follow up investigations by the detective bureau
• arrested 40 persons for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
• staffing was 53 sworn officers and 5 civilian support personnel
