Marlboro Man Charged in Connection with Manalapan Bank Robbery

The man who allegedly robbed the Manalapan Sun National Bank on Saturday was apprehended by police on Monday.

A Marlboro man was arrested in connection with the Saturday afternoon robbery of the Sun National Bank in Manalapan, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Public Informations Officer Charles Webster.

Paul Deynaga, 23, of Lansdale Drive in Marlboro, was arrested at the Marlboro Motor Lodge at 11:30 a.m. on Monday with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Marlboro Township Police, Webster said.

According to police, Deynaga entered the Route 9 bank at 12:53 p.m., demanded cash from the teller and threatened the use of gun, but did not display one. The teller provided him with some cash and he fled the bank.

The investigation which led to Deynaga’s arrest was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office—Major Crimes Bureau and the Manalapan Police Department, according to Webster. He was charged with robbery.

Deynaga is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $250,000 bail with no 10 percent bond, which was set by Judge Francis J.  Vernoia, Webster said. He was also ordered not to return to the scene of the crime. His initial appearance in court is scheduled for June 17.
